The Helping Hands Fund was established several years ago as a way for our church to help those in need in the community.
In 2016, we restructured the way we help those in our community: Incoming requests are first referred to local community agencies that provide assistance. In emergency situations, requests are directed to John and Sondra, who then interview applicants to determine the best course of action. Other than those rare emergencies, our best effort to help people is to help the existing agencies that are currently staffed and exist to provide for those needs. In those emergency situation when Pastor John or Pastor Sondra have determined that we at FCC are able to provide assistance that other agencies would not be able to do, we can distribute these funds as vouchers; no cash is involved. These vouchers can help pay for food, utilities, gas, rent, and other things as needed. This program accepts donations all the time, and also special offerings are taken on occasion as well.
Here is how FCC has helped those in need in our community this year:
Helping Hands and Helping Hands II.
“Then those ‘sheep’ are going to say, ‘Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?’ Then the King will say, ‘I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.’” Matthew 25:37-40 (The Message)
