Why should I consider placing membership?
Membership is an opportunity for an individual or family to make a commitment to grow in faith with others. It is also a dedication to serve not only God but also God’s children in need, and to support each other as we experiences life’s struggles and joys. A congregation is seen as the body of Christ on earth, and members of the body are the servants and ambassadors of God in and to their community. When the time is right for you, the congregation is ready to welcome you with open arms.
Who can place membership?
Membership is extended to anyone who expresses desire to become part of this Body of Christ, and to open their hearts and minds to the presence of God. The ministry of all believers is a critical part of the Disciples understanding of their life purpose. In that role, we reach out to all who search for hope, peace, joy, and justice in their lives and in our world. Jesus Christ is our model and our salvation.
Are there classes that I can take?
For those who want to know more about our beliefs, we offer special classes periodically and welcome anyone who is interested. These classes are not required for membership and are available to everyone. Our ministers are also available to spend time with you in prayer and conversation at any time.
How do I actually place membership?
Please let John Bain, our Senior Minister, know of your desire to place membership. John will meet with you to get acquainted before the official placing of membership. On the Sunday nearest your date of decision to join, you will be asked to present yourself to the congregation at the close of the service and make a confession of faith. In turn, the congregation will pledge their love and support of you in your commitment to serve God and neighbor.
